[📚Sunday Book Club]: Dan Harris; "10% Happier"

[📚Sunday Book Club]: Dan Harris; "10% Happier"

Imagine having a panic attack, live, on ABC news in front of maybe 5 million viewers. I’m talking about Good Morning America’s Dan Harris 😐 himself.

You know what? Let’s NOT imagine! It’s painful, humiliating and extremely debilitating to have a full blown episode in public. Those who know, know. (Having my own share and family history I send love to anyone out there who is affected.) However, something great came out of Dan’s experience; a book📚 — a book of personal self-discovery, almost a road trip embellished with great story telling, meaningful information, a dry sense of humor followed with deep discoveries. Check out a couple of my favorite quotes to get a taste:

“Your demons may have been ejected from the building, but they’re out in the parking lot, doing push-ups.”

“Make the present moment your friend rather than your enemy. Because many people live habitually as if the present moment were an obstacle that they need to overcome in order to get to the next moment. And imagine living your whole life like that, where always this moment is never quite right, not good enough because you need to get to the next one. That is continuous stress.”

“We live so much of our lives pushed forward by these “if only” thoughts, and yet the itch remains. The pursuit of happiness becomes the source of our unhappiness.”

And here I would like to remind us ALL that our health, including mental health, is the most important thing in order to succeed as an entrepreneur. I've been going full speed with amazing business books, but at the end of 2023, I would like to close our Book Club with books that nurture us on the inside. 10% Happier by Dan Harris is a great reminder of what not to do.

So it is my hope that during this holiday season we can take our time and evaluate our happiness. Because one thing I know for sure, once 2024 rolls over it will be another race. We'll have to learn new technologies, keep on advancing and staying flexible no matter what.

Dan's book promotes meditation as a tool to rewire your brain, improves your sleep, and lowers blood pressure. You don't have to copy his path, as long as you figure out what works for you.

Wishing you wonderful holidays and enough time for yourself.

Love, Hana ❤️
