“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”  - Franklin D. Roosevelt
Fear is one of the strongest emotions we have to deal with throughout our life. The best way to handle fear is to accept it, embrace it and make it work for us. Today’s Sunday Book Club will be tough love, but you know what? At times we all need it, including me.
The 50th Law was written as a collaboration between Robert Greene and 50 Cent. Yep. 50 Cent; the platinum selling rapper, the drug dealer, the TV producer, the fearless entrepreneur.Â
We could combine all our sad childhood stories and still we wouldn’t level up with 50 Cent whose mother was murdered when he was only 8 years old. He joined the hustlers selling drugs by the age of 12. However, fast forward — he signed a record deal with Columbia Records by the age of 24.Â
Sound like a fairytale? Hold on! There is a cliffhanger of a hired assassin who fired nine bullets into his body from close range…
Sorry, I can’t give you more details, you have to read it! Or even better, you can listen to it on Audible and feel the raw intensity of 50 Cent. The co-author Robert Greene, shadowed 50 Cent for almost a year, observing his business skills, behavior patterns or street smart tricks. All of this somehow translated into relevant stories from history combined with 50 Cent life lessons.Â
Here are couple of quotes about fearlessness I liked:
“Your fears are a kind of prison that confines you within a limited range of action. The less you fear, the more power you will have and the more fully you will live.”― Robert Greene
“If you view everything through the lens of fear, then you tend to stay in retreat mode. You can just as easily see a crises or problem as a challenge, an opportunity to prove your mettle, the chance to strengthen and toughen yourself, or a call to collective action. By seeing it as a challenge, you will have converted this negative into a positive purely by a mental process that will result in positive action as well. ” ― Robert Greene
“The greatest danger you face is your mind growing soft and your eye getting dull.”― 50 Cent
“I've made so many mistakes, so many corrections. I'm so far from perfect so many imperfections. But I'm a go getta I get up and go get it, so if you preaching prosperity, i wanna hit it.... ”― 50 Cent
50 Cent is living proof that if an unfortunate child/drug dealer from the hood can make it to the top, we can for sure have the strength to believe in ourselves, and face our fears.Â
I hope you’ll take your time to remember how strong you truly are.Â
Keep going and never, ever give up.
Love, Hana ❤️
