[📚Sunday Book Club]: “Grit" by Angela Duckworth

[📚Sunday Book Club]: “Grit" by Angela Duckworth

“Grit” is a combination of passion and perseverance -- it’s that “magic” we need for long-term goals.

“Grit isn’t talent. Grit isn’t luck. Grit isn’t how intensely, for the moment, you want something”.
- Angela Duckworth

We could wrap it up right here, but I want to elaborate and point out something very important. Your success doesn’t depend on talent or luck. It depends on how hungry and obsessed you are with your goal! Liberating, isn’t it? But, in order to succeed, it will cost you; time, dedication, ability to get up when you fall down and a big load of self control and much more.

Here are a few quotes for you to ponder, and, as a bonus, here also is a link to measure your own grittiness: https://angeladuckworth.com/qa/  (my score was 4 🤓)

“Our potential is one thing. What we do with it is quite another.”

“I won’t just have a job; I’ll have a calling. I’ll challenge myself every day. When I get knocked down, I’ll get back up. I may not be the smartest person in the room, but I’ll strive to be the grittiest.”

“...grit grows as we figure out our life philosophy, learn to dust ourselves off after rejection and disappointment, and learn to tell the difference between low-level goals that should be abandoned quickly and higher-level goals that demand more tenacity. The maturation story is that we develop the capacity for long-term passion and perseverance as we get older.”

Angela Duckworth has written an excellent book that gives us ALL green light to go after our dreams and goals, with the understanding that our success is in our hands.

I hope you’ll have enough time over the upcoming holiday season to reassess and reevaluate where you are standing NOW and where you want to be in 2024.

Don’t wait till next year to advance and grow.

Love, Hana
