So, this one was actually published five days ago and I had to have it, of course. My fellow European, Arnold Schwarzenegger is known primarily as an iconic action hero and former Governor of California. That I’m sure you know, but did you know about his upbringing in a small Austrian village? He grew up in a home without plumbing and running water. Speaking of very humble beginnings, how does someone like that turn into a movie star and a highly ranked politician?
Well, it’s ALL in this amazing book.
I highly recommend getting the Audible version as well. You’ll get the unapologetic version with Arnold’s specific humor and side stories delivered with his known accent. It’s over 6 hours of entertainment infused with valuable lessons. And yes, he pulls his “I’ll be back” several times
My favorite was chapter 5, which I have replayed several times. Arnold talks about how to reframe failure (page 172 or hour 4 on Audible)
“If anything, when you look at it with the right perspective, failure is actually the beginning of measurable success, because failure is only possible in situations where you’ve tried to accomplish something difficult and worthwhile. You can’t fail when you don’t try in that sense, failure is kind of like a progress report on your path to purpose. It shows you how far you’ve come, and it reminds you how far you still have to go and what you have to work on to get there. It’s an opportunity to learn from your mistakes to evolve your approach, and to come back better than ever.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger's Be Useful is not your typical celebrity memoir or self-help book. Instead, it offers a unique blend of motivational wisdom, practical advice, and a deep sense of humanity.
I give this book 10 out of 10. I was looking primarily for the entertainment, but got so much more out of it. It was so good, I basically inhaled the book in two days (driving between my appointments).
I hope we all can reframe our failures in a much gentler way.
The business can get tough at times, but I believe in you!
You Got This!
Wishing you a happy Sunday!
Love, Hana
