I Will Teach You to be Rich by Ramit Sethi

How comfortable are you with “money talk”? Me, growing up in communist Czechoslovakia…not so much. For sure I was told that “money doesn’t grow on trees” and my dad’s favorite was: “you think I print cash”? (I wish he did 😂) Anyway, when I left my house as a late teen, I had no idea how to go about “adulting”, especially the “money thing”.

This leads directly to one of my favorite books on money!

Ramit Sethi's I Will Teach You to Be Rich provides the perfect roadmap, with wit, humor, and practical advice. Sethi’s financial philosophy is all about balance. He encourages us to indulge in our passions and spend generously on what truly brings us joy, whether it's travel, hobbies, or dining out. At the same time, he advocates ruthlessly cutting costs on the things that don't contribute to our happiness.

One thing that stood out the most for me is that Ramit holds money and time equally when it comes to its spending. And I absolutely LOVE this perspective. ⏰ + 🤑

“In the end, managing your finances well is a lot like developing a strong personal productivity system: You keep track of everything without making it your full-time job; you set goals; you break them down into small bite-size tasks; you save yourself time by automating manual work; and you spend your time and brainpower focusing on the big picture. That’s what I try to do with my time and money.”  🎯📈

Money talk shouldn’t be a taboo topic, it’s a necessary life skill. The knowledge we need to teach our kids, so they don’t end up like many of us, clueless with maxed out credit cards.

Last thought is that financial responsibility doesn’t mean sacrificing the things we love; it means making intentional choices.

"Start today, not tomorrow. If anything, you should have started yesterday."
Have a great weekend.

Love Hana ❤️
